IL Fuels has developed technologies for the separation of oil or bitumen from sand and other minerals and for the treatment of tailings – the minerals and clays that are stored in the form of a slurry in tailings ponds or impoundments.  A wide range of tailings have been successfully dewatered and consolidated, ranging from oils sands tailings to copper mine tailings to waste slurries from coal washing operations. More recent work involves lithium bearing clays. That’s a work in progress!
